McDonald Army Health Center Combat Medic Named Army Service Member of the Year at Virginia Peninsula Chamber Recognition Breakfast
Work, a 68W combat medic specialist assigned to McDonald Army Health Center at Fort Eustis, Virginia, was honored for her service and continued professional development in Army medicine. A native of Berkeley, California, Work earned a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience with honors from the University of California, Santa Cruz, before entering the Army. She attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, in August 2024 and later completed Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, earning the 68W combat medic specialist military occupational specialty in February 2025.
Work arrived at McDonald Army Health Center in June 2025 and has since supported multiple areas of patient care. Her additional military medical training includes an Allergy and Immunology course at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and the Hearing Technician Conservation Course at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth.
She currently supports Allergy and Dermatology, Laboratory and Emergency Medical Services at McDonald Army Health Center.
Work’s recognition during the Virginia Peninsula Chamber event highlights both her individual accomplishments and the contributions of service members throughout the Hampton Roads community.
